Taqueria Del Mar in Monterey

This place is consistently good and offers dishes that I find more tasty than other Mexican places in town. Try the vegetarian burrito, served with both red and green sauces. You get the bottles so you can decide for yourself how wet you want your burrito. Fresh and very tasty. Friendly owners and no use of animal fats in the cooking.

When a Mexican restaurant uses flour tortillas for tacos it loses all credibility in my opinion. Overall very basic Mexican American food I my opinion. Staff was very good tho.

I've been going to Taqueria del Mar for over ten years. Each time, the food is satisfing and tasty and the salsas are made with just the right amount of ingredients. I usually order the Fish burrito with rice and beans. Everything is grilled to perfection. Will definitely continue to be back for a quick, tasty meal.

The food is delicious and very tasty, each item we order had it's own flavor like it should, their salsas weren't spicy but they had a ggodd flavor to it. service is quick and friendly and the bathroom was clean and spacious, overall we were glad we found it and they didn't disappoint us at all. We'll be back next we're in town. Thanks !!!!

Everytime I come to Monterey, this place is a must visit. The food is soo delicious, words cant describe how delicious it is. The service is fast and efficient. The owners are the sweetest and kindest people I have ever met.

I got the special of two crab and shrimp enchiladas with r/b's. Tiny portions. I can honestly say that I've never been served this little food at a restaurant.

Thanks love this place. Been coming here for nearly 20 years. Husband and wife are the only two workers. Usually get the fish tacos, but other seafood also very good. And the chorizo and egg burrito is tasty. Get the chips and salsa, and be liberal with both the red and green salsas on your food. Enjoy!

If you want the best fish tacos EVER, this is your place. Amazing! And the people that work there are so nice. I consider this place a hidden gem for sure!

We went to this place every week for a year since we found this hidden gem! It’s a non-pretentious looking place but the food is delicious with freshest ingredients and authentic flavors! I’m a big seafood fan and their seafood tacos are a hit! I have never had seafood tacos that can be compared to theirs. Highly recommend scallop and squid tacos (squid is tender and delicious). You will want to come back! We even went here on the last day before moving out of town. I will miss Taqueria Del Mar!

Tastes like you have never experienced before. Perfect combination of fresh ingredients that brings you a bold experience. My favorites are the California burrito and nachos. When squids are in season, they are the perfect addition to the burrito.

The fish tacos with green salsa are the best!!! Tons of fish on them! And super fresh.

The fish tacos were some of the best I've had in a long time

The burritos are a little unruly, so you may have to fork & knife it. But they are REALLY good! So are their enchiladas. All authentic, reasonably priced, and delicious. Kind of a hard spot to find, but that just means you'll definitely be able to grab a seat and enjoy your food.

Unfortunately they put dairy in the guacamole which otherwise would have completed my delicious vegan veggie burrito there. Of course, if you wanted a vegan burrito you would probably go to El Cantaro down the street so this probably won't be relevant for you. Still, the veggies are super fresh and the salsa is top notch. The food is great, service is great, and I would recommend to anyone.

Great place for lunch while in Monterey. I was visiting the aquarium with the family for the day and we decided to go for lunch off the main drag. Food was great, cooked to order, and came out pretty fast. The fish fajita burrito special was HUGE and very good. I am a big eater and could have easily split it with my wife.

Was not impressed. Hours of operation: they close/open when ever they feel like it so don't go by the posted schedule, and the food is just okay.

To me, *this* is the ideal of Monterey cuisine: seafood perfectly incorporated into Mexican food. I usually get two tacos with scallop, squid, or another fish. The tacos are big, but they're so good I can't help to get two. Vegetarian options like artichoke are great too. You know it's a good Mexican restaurant when they bring you two types of salsa in squirt bottles. I don't understand why this place isn't packed all day every day.

I found this place years ago. If you want authentic Mexican food this is the place to go. Healthy fish tacos that I can't find anywhere else. Very friendly service. This is definitely my Mexican food of all choices. It's small and cozy.. Not fancy at all, but darn great food!!

It is 2:35 on a Sunday and they are closed, when they are supposed to be open till 4:00.

The tacos were delicious. We ordered fish, squid, scallop, crab and shrimp. All were excellent! Ta0queria del Mar will definitely be a restuarant we visit each time we sre in Monterey, plus it is just across the street from all the vintage clothiers.

This is a small, no-frills restaurant which dishes out some homely Mexican fare with generous and fresh portions of seafood. Prices are very reasonable. Service is quick and with a big smile.If you are a fussy eater expecting, vegan, vegetarian, ovotarian...etc. then go eat in some fancier place where they may fulfill your desires while they empty your pockets. Leave this place to do its simple, genuine and honest bit of serving tasty hot seafood meals with a Mexican touch.

Came here to fix a food emergency. Food is delicious and tastes a lot cleaner than other ones. Great place to stop
